MEET A FEW VERY SPECIAL FRIENDS OF THE CHILDREN AT SKCV :

BRITISH AIRWAYS PROVIDES FREE TICKETS

As there are many kind-hearted people in the UK and Europe who have been helping the children of SKCV over the years, it is necessary for the Founder, Manihara Norton, to travel to Europe for meetings, conferences and fundraising events. British Airways has commendably risen to the occasion for the past four years by providing free travel from India to Manchester and Amsterdam, and back, for Mr. Norton and one other person. Two of the members of the SKCV Future Group have already travelled courtesy of British Airways, both to represent and answer questions on SKCV, and also to spend a little time sharing cultures and seeing the sights of Europe to share with their counterparts back in India. The effect of this rare opportunity on the older children is amazing. The saving of valuable charitable funds for the fund-raising programmes in the UK and Holland speaks for itself. 1999-2000 will be a special year for visits to the sponsors and donors there.

CHILD RELIEF AND YOU (CRY) FUNDS 40% OF THE CHILDREN'S VILLAGE

Child Relief and You (CRY) have played a major part in the development of SKCV Children's Trust. By assisting with the funding of various important sections of the projects, they have enabled SKCV to build up a fund for the future as well as given credibility to the work both nationwide in India and internationally. CRY volunteers and staff in the US are working tirelessly to assist children in need in India, as are the wonderful and personable staff in the offices in India. SKCV Children are indebted to CRY for its efforts not only with regards to SKCV, but its commitment to children in need all over India. CRY has accepted SKCV as part of its family, and we are extremely happy to be members of such a family. HATS OFF TO ALL AT CRY!!

ROTARY INTERNATIONAL GIVES GRANTS AND LOCAL GIFTS

Rotary Club of Tamworth Anker and Rotary Club of Vijayawada have been extremely helpful to the children over the years and the latest effort of Tamworth Anker Club was to secure the grant for Children's Opportunities offered by Rotary International. This is at present assisting 200 children in Vijayawada to get off the streets and into school or training for the future. The thrust of Rotary in 1998 and 99 was to help street children and children in need.

The local Rotary Clubs give regularly gifts in kind and also donations for meals for the children through the SKCV / Rotary Special Day Scheme.

HOW SKCV FUNDS ARE RECEIVED AND SPENT

All donations are utilised specifically for the children under the wing of SKCV. Administrative and managerial expenses are kept to a basic minimum, and are covered, in part, by interest from investments of the Trust. Many of the staff accept no salary, whatsoever, including the Managing Trustee and the Principal of the School, others who are family persons accept a reasonable amount. Trustees do not accept any remuneration whatsoever. The children's maintenance is provided by the local community, and donations from Indian individuals and companies, but for development and expansion of new child rescue centres, and special programmes, aid is welcomed from abroad. Official receipts are issued for ALL donations.

NOTE: A Special SKCV CORPUS FUND is now being developed (1,500, 000 Indian Rupees has already been saved) with the goal of Rupees 50 Lacs {Rs.50, 00,000} - {$ 156,240}- {£ 104,166} by March 2007. This will enable basic SKCV Child Rescue programmes to become financially self-sufficient.

SKCV has a strict policy that 100% of your kind donation goes to the children. Overheads are kept to a minimum and we try to obtain support to cover them.  Only 4.5% is spent on administrative costs.
